Sent to a Corrupt People

Long ago, the people of Nuh (AS) had turned away from Allah and begun worshipping idols instead. Allah chose Nuh and sent him with an urgent warning for his people.
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
"Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], 'Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.'"
— Surah Nuh 71:1
Nuh (AS) wasted no time. He stood before his people and told them plainly who he was — not a poet, not a fortune-teller, but someone sent by Allah to warn them clearly, with no confusion about his message.
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ
"He said, 'O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner —'"

His message was simple and direct: worship Allah alone, be mindful of Him, and obey what he was telling them.
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
"'To worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me.'"

This one message — worship Allah, fear Him, obey His messenger — became the heart of everything Nuh (AS) would repeat for the next 950 years, no matter how his people responded.
